2. What Data We Collect

None. WakeShift collects no personal data. There is no server, no user account, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party services that receive your information.

3. What Stays on Your Device

The app stores the following information locally on your iPhone. This data never leaves your device:

• Shift types and rotations: The shift types, times and rotation patterns you create.
• Roster: The calculated and manually adjusted daily assignments of your shifts.
• Alarm and reminder data: The scheduled wake-up times and the optional sleep reminder that WakeShift manages for you.
• Settings: Sleep goal, buffer and threshold values, onboarding status and app preferences.

This data is stored in a local database via Apple's SwiftData framework. So that the widget can display the same data, this database lives in a shared App Group container used exclusively by WakeShift and its widget on your device. You can change the data at any time through the app, or remove it entirely by uninstalling the app.

4. Alarms and Notifications

So that WakeShift can wake you for your shifts, the app uses Apple's AlarmKit framework for system alarms and local notifications for the optional sleep reminder. When you first set this up, iOS asks for your permission.

These alarms and notifications are scheduled and triggered entirely on your device. No push notifications are sent via a server, and no information about them leaves your device. You can revoke the permissions at any time in your iOS settings.

5. Data Export and Import

WakeShift lets you export your plans as a JSON file and import them again on another device. This file is stored only where you place it (for example, in the Files app or iCloud Drive, if you put it there yourself). We have no access to it and do not receive this file. What happens to the exported file is entirely in your hands.

6. In-App Purchases

The one-time purchase of WakeShift Pro is handled entirely through Apple's StoreKit framework. We receive no payment information, credit card details or your Apple ID. Apple acts as the seller and provides us only with an anonymised purchase confirmation, so that the app can unlock the Pro features.

7. Cookies and Tracking

The app uses no cookies, tracking pixels, advertising identifiers (IDFA) or third-party SDKs. We do not participate in any advertising network.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

Because we collect or process no personal data, most GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) have no data to which they could be applied. However, you have the right to:

9. Health-Related Notes

WakeShift provides general, scientifically grounded recommendations on sleep and shift work, modeled on the NIOSH workplace-safety training. These notes are not medical advice and are calculated exclusively on your device. No health data is collected, stored or transmitted to Apple Health or third parties in the process.

10. Children

WakeShift is aimed at a general, predominantly working audience and is rated 4+ on the App Store. We knowingly collect no data from anyone (neither children nor adults).

11. Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the new version will be published at this URL. Material changes will be highlighted at the top.
