Frequently asked questions about Puffree
Is Puffree really free?
Yes. Completely, forever, with every feature included. No ads, no subscription, no account. If the app helps and you want to give something back, you can leave a voluntary one-time contribution under Settings. You never have to.
How does the widget work?
Add it like any iOS widget: touch and hold the home screen, add a widget and pick Puffree. There is a small and a medium size for the home screen and two formats for the lock screen. The widget shows your timer and your plant, and before a planned quit day the countdown. While cutting down, you count puffs with “+1” right in the widget. The medium widget also has “Undo”. Counting in the widget needs iOS 17 or later.
Where is my data?
On your device, nowhere else. Puffree has no server and no account. Your name, quit date, spending and progress stay on your iPhone. Uninstalling the app removes everything.
How do I back up my data?
Puffree has no account. That is why the backup stays with you. In the app under Settings, open “Your data”. “Create backup” saves your data as a file or shares it. “Restore backup” reads a Puffree file back in. Before restoring, Puffree shows what the backup contains. Restoring replaces your current data.
What happens after a relapse?
Only the timer restarts. Your total vape-free days, savings, cravings you got through and your longest streak all stay. Most people need several tries. That is statistics, not failure.
How do I change my language or name?
In the app under Settings: “Language” switches between system, German and English. “Your name” changes how Puffree addresses you. Leave it empty if you prefer no name.
How do I correct my quit date or weekly spending?
Also under Settings: “Quit date” corrects when you stopped, “Weekly spending” adjusts the basis for your savings. Both can be changed at any time.
How can I support Puffree?
Under Settings you find "Support Puffree", a voluntary one-time contribution handled entirely by Apple. It changes nothing about the app: everything stays free for everyone.
Where does the breathing exercise come from?
It follows principles from research on slow breathing with an extended exhale. The rhythm is four seconds in, two seconds hold, six seconds out: five breaths per minute, breathing out longer than in, which demonstrably shifts the nervous system toward calm. It is a craving aid, not a medical treatment.
